Apart from history and architectural monuments, Sibiu has much more to offer to its guests. Sibiu also means tradition and culture. As you may already know, in 2007 Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture and on this occasion, many new festivals and events have been launched while the old ones have been better promoted.

This is a unique jazz festival in Romania, offering its audience concerts and performances in conventional and unconventional places, music and dance performances, blues and spiritual negro jazz.

The most important arts festival in Romania, which includes more than 350 shows performed by theatre companies all over the world.

This festival tries to celebrate and promote the Romanian Film Art; the 4 days events, there will be more than 30 Romanian film representations many of them awarded with international prizes.

The dance contests and performances unite theatre and ballet companies from Romania and abroad.

These concerts are performed by American artists who try to put into the light the classical American music and movie soundtracks.

The nomad apprentices arrive in Sibiu where they try to show its habitants and tourists the work the craftsmen and apprentices used to  centuries ago, their old work instruments and techniques , the way they used to live and dress.

During the festival days, Sibiu transforms itself into a real stage for folkloric music and dances. There will also be thematic workshops and special evenings dedicated to different cultures and traditions.

A famous international festival dedicated to rock music.  There will be many rock concerts with famous bands from all over the world.

During the 3 days-festival the town of Sibiu transforms itself into the medieval fortress it used to be. Princes and princesses, artisans and craftsmen, brave knights and fighters “invade” the narrow streets of the fortress. For a few days Sibiu goes back in time, it becomes again the famous Hermannstadt citadel.

Potters and craftsmen from all over the country come to Sibiu to exhibit their work of art and take part in different workshops. This is a unique time when you can buy wonderful authentic souvenirs.

Photographers from all over the world come to exhibit their portfolios.

A festival organized by the Hungarians in Sibiu and surroundings during which they will present their traditions and culture.

At this time of year you can visit the Christmas Fair, buy traditional souvenirs, have a cup of hot vein or why not try the specially arranged skating rink.

Transilvanian Brunch is an initiative which promotes organic food, local homemade products and intercultural relationships in Tranylvania. These brunches take place every last Saturday of the month (from April to September) in a different location.
